Download the apps
If the work shipped, it is in a store. Install it, check the review history and the update cadence. Abandoned apps show up fast.
Ask what part they built
Many portfolio pieces are partial contributions. Ask specifically which screens, which services and which phase.
Look for range
A firm that only shows one category may only know one category. Wve Labs' portfolio spans Sony, Honda, Guardian, Marriott, USC, Maui Jim, Digital Watchdog and California State University, plus consumer products like Puff Count and Neurocycle.
Check the directories
Clutch, DesignRush, GoodFirms and similar sites hold reviews that vendors cannot edit. Read the three-star ones.
